“Story Time” for Caregivers is a monthly series at Astoria Bookshop in Queens, New York. Taking place at traditional story hour, 11:30am, “Story Time” for Caregivers is a literary event for the adults in attendance, who are welcome to bring their babies and toddlers along! Each month a reader shares their own poetry or prose, we have a great discussion around the reading, and the reader closes with a baby/kids book. It is a warm, welcoming space to participate in something for you, surrounded by other grown ups who don’t mind if your baby spits up or your toddler has a screaming tantrum in the middle of the floor. We welcome parents, grandparents, nannies, and/or anyone who wants to attend a morning literary event (some of us get tired at night!).
Past readers include: Emily Hockaday, Pichchenda Bao, Jared Harél, Ananda Lima, Catherine LaSota, Jenny Risi, Julia LoFaso, Valerie Cario, Christine Kandic Torres, Shayne Terry, Erica Stern, Domenica Ruta, and DeMisty Bellinger.
